Belknap County Bar Association Honors Attorney Rod Dyer for 50 Years of Service

The Belknap County Bar Association held its annual dinner at Hart’s Turkey Farm in Meredith, New Hampshire on March 25, 2014. Two area attorneys were honored for their over 50 years of service in the legal community: Attorney Rod Dyer of Wescott Law, P.A. and Attorney Willard G. Martin, Jr., of Martin, Lord & Osman, P.A.

Rod Dyer, a lifelong resident of Belknap County, attended Laconia primary and secondary schools. Following his graduation from the University of New Hampshire, he briefly left the state to attend Boston University School of Law, as this was prior to the establishment of a law school in New Hampshire. Following in his great-grandfather, Attorney Napoleon Dyer’s footsteps, Rod practiced law in Belknap County. Rod was mentored by area attorneys Harold Wescott, Hugh Bownes, and F.E. Normandin. Rod credits his mentor, law partner, and friend Peter Millham as having the most influence on his legal career.

Besides his many professional accomplishments, Rod served his community in multiple capacities throughout his years in Laconia: as City Attorney, Mayor, and head of a number of community organizations. Rod and his wife, Gail, were married in 1963 and have two children and two grandchildren. Of his time in service to the city of Laconia and Belknap County, Rod says, “It has been a privilege to be an attorney and to serve clients and my community for 50 years.”
