Peter graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1954, serving in the United States Army from 1954-1956, and graduating from Columbia Law School in 1959, Peter served clients in the Lakes Region for exactly 55 years, retiring in September of 2014 on the date of his anniversary for passing the bar exam.
Peter has generously given his time to many community organizations holding many public service positions, including Chair of Lakes Region General Hospital Trustees, Commissioner of the Belknap Mountain Recreation Area and Chair of the Lakes Region Charitable Foundation, and as Moderator for the Town of Gilford for forty years. He was a member of the Belknap County and New Hampshire Bar Associations. He serves as an enthusiastic member (and past President of) the Circle Program Board of Directors.
In the years leading up toPeter’s retirement, his practice focused on estate planning, probate, tax abatement and contract interpretation. Peter has tried numerous cases in all levels of New Hampshire courts. He also served as an arbitrator, served as a mediator in the Superior Court and offered services as a private mediator in civil disputes.
Peter states, “My fifty-five years of practice have been enjoyable. I have appreciated my relationships with the other lawyers and business people in the area, as well as my clients in general. I want to thank the Court personnel and the personnel in the offices of the various cities and towns with whom I have dealt, [as well as] the staff in our office at Wescott Law for the relationships we have developed”.
